The Embassy of Sweden and the Consulate General of Sweden are pleased to announce the opening of the visa application centre in Beijing and Shanghai. This service is available for Chinese residents/other country nationals legally residing in China who wish to apply for a Schengen visa to Sweden. This site provides details related to your application submission and collection process along with other useful information you need to know.

Applicants who wish to apply for a visa are requested to kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you to prepare your documents accurately and will reduce the risks of your application being incomplete or take a longer time to being processed.

The visa applications are to be submitted at the Swedish Visa application centre in Beijing and Shanghai in accordance with the jurisdiction specified. The visa application centre will accept Schengen visa (Short term) applications only. The applications must be submitted by the applicant in person at the Visa Application Centre. Only ADS group and Bona Fide applicants can choose to submit the applications by accredited representative (couriers) on behalf of the applicant . Applications cannot be sent by post. .All applications collected by the visa application centre will be assessed by the Embassy of Sweden, located in Beijing / the Consulate General of Sweden, located at Shanghai.

National visa (Long term) applications have to be submitted directly at the Embassy of Sweden, located at Beijing/ Consulate General of Sweden, located at Shanghai.

All applications collected by the visa application centre will be sent to the Embassy of Sweden/ Consulate General of Sweden for assessment and resolution. Visa application centre staff has no say in the visa decisions taken by the Embassy/ Consulate General.

Please Note:In order to receive a SCHENGEN-visa from the Embassy/ Consulate General of Sweden in China your main destination must be SWEDEN or the longest part of your stay must be within Sweden. If you plan to visit several Schengen countries and the duration of the stay in those countries is the same then the visa shall be lodged at the Embassy/Consulate of the Member State whose external border you intend to cross in order to enter the Schengen territory.

Processing Time
A shortterm visa normally takes about 15 calendar days to process, not including the day you lodge the application. Your application can be lodged earliest 3 months before the start of the intended visit and at least 15 calendar days before your intended departure.

Visa Application Process
Step 1 : Prepare your application and supporting documents:
Go to ‘All about your visas’ link on this website and find out details related to the visa category you want to apply for – here, you can find information on the applicable fee, documents required, Visa application form and more.
Step 2 : Book an appointment to visit the visa application centre/visit the visa application centre without appointment: To visit the visa application centre we recommend you to Schedule Appointment You can book an appointment online or by calling the Call Centre. Details provided on this website will help you to schedule an appointment.
If there is no suitable seat for you, you could visit the visa application centre directly without any appointment during our opening hours. You could take a token number at the gate and wait for calling.
Step 3 : Submit your application:
Visit the visa application centre and submit your completed visa application forms along with required supporting documents.
Step 4 : Pay applicable Fee:
The submission officer at the visa application centre will advise you on total payable amount and guide you to make the payment in local currency (CNY). Receipt will be provided for all payments made at the Centre.

Please Note:

At the time of submission at the visa application centre, applicants have the choice to:

a) Subscribe for courier service for return of passport.
b) Subscribe for SMS service where the visa application centre sends the application status on applicants mobile and via email.
